Current hourly rate
Fees are charged on an hourly basis. VAT is charged in addition at the prevailing rate where applicable.
At the current VAT rate of 20%, this is £480 including VAT per hour.
Family law matters vary substantially in complexity, urgency and scope. Work is generally charged by reference to time spent, the level of responsibility involved and the work required to progress the matter properly.
Where appropriate, an estimate or range of likely costs will be provided at the outset and reviewed as the matter develops.
Advice may include initial strategy, divorce procedure, jurisdiction, timing and associated arrangements. Cost will depend on whether advice is limited to the divorce process itself or forms part of wider financial or children issues.
Financial remedy work may involve property, pensions, business interests, income, maintenance and wider asset structures. Cost will usually reflect the complexity of disclosure, negotiation and any court timetable.
Advice may relate to child arrangements, parental responsibility, relocation, safeguarding concerns or urgent applications. Cost depends on urgency, evidence, negotiations and whether proceedings are required.
Urgent applications and protective measures may require immediate preparation and prioritised work. Fee estimates will be considered in light of the urgency and procedural steps required.
Disbursements are costs payable to third parties. These may include court fees, barristers’ fees, expert reports, process servers, tracing agents or other professional charges where required. These are separate from solicitor fees and will be discussed where relevant.
The rate quoted on this page is exclusive of VAT. VAT is added where applicable at the prevailing rate.
